Meeting of chancellor of university with the regional director of Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF)
Dr. Mohammad Aghajani, chancellor of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences met Mr. Hervé Sabourin, the regional director of Agence Universitare de la Francophonie (AUF) on Monday, March 11, 2019.
During this meeting and after thanking for the invitation, Mr. Sabourin welcomed SBUMS as the first medical university in Iran approved as observer member in AUF and presented his willingness regarding the expansion of scientific and research collaboration with AUF members, especially with the universities in the Middle East region.
Dr. Aghajani briefly presented the program of the ministry of health and medical education in which SBUMS is assigned as focal point to cooperate with French universities in order to expand scientific relationships, organize short observation courses and implement first joint-diploma for disaster management in collaboration with Paris-Descartes medical faculty.
Mr. Sabourin, then expressed the potential of collaboration between the Iranian and Lebanese medical universities. The annual general assembly organized in the region representing importent opportunity for quality assurance of university education, digital management and marketing for graduated students, have been all introduced by the regional director.
AUF is currently present in more than 113 countries and has more than 900 members worldwide. Iran with 10 members represents 3rdplace in the Middle East after Lebanon and Egypt. The grants offered by AUF for exchange of students and faculty members, joint research projects and promotion of linguistic skills were also discussed during this meeting and both sides presented their readiness in order to maximize the mutual cooperation.
Dr. Ziaie, vice-chancellor of educational affairs, Dr. Zarghi, Vice-chancellor of research and technology, Dr. Sharif Kashani, Vice-chancellor of international affairs, Dr. Tavassoli from ministry of international affairs, Mrs. Ebadi from ministry of health and medical education, Mr. Jean-Christophe Bonté from French embassy, Dr. Ghanati the coordinator and Dr. Habibi the consultant of Iran-France scientific collaboration office were present during this visit.
